Four-Year Graduation Incentive
CSU System Schools Earn Grant
Colorado State University campuses in Pueblo and Fort Collins have partnered to create a new mentorship program to help minority students achieve advanced science degrees at both the masters and doctorate levels thanks to a three-year, $595,700 grant from the National Institutes of Health. Four-Year Graduation Incentive Plan
Colorado students who begin at CSU-Pueblo in the fall of 2007 and graduate in four years could receive more than just a diploma when they cross the stage. CSU-Pueblo students can enter a contract which could reward them with an incentive check of up to $1500 if they graduate in four years. (full story)

75th Anniversary Announcement
Colorado State University-Pueblo President Joe Garcia announced the University's intentions to celebrate 75 years of service to the region at the Pueblo County Building. From a seed originally planted in 1933, two institutions of higher education have sprouted that continue to partner to meet the cultural, social, and post-secondary education needs of Pueblo and Southern Colorado.
University Sponsors Conference
CSU-Pueblo is co-sponsoring with Colorado State University U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard's 11th annual and final Allard Capital Conference, June 11-13 in Washington, D.C The bi-partisan conference is open to 120 Colorado residents and promotes a greater understanding of the legislative process and participation in civic life. Students Gift Wolf Statue
King of the HillVisitors to the CSU-Pueblo campus will find a new guardian of sorts in the form of a howling wolf statue perched on a knoll on the east side of campus. "King of the Hill" was purchased and gifted to the University by the Student Facility Fee Committee. (full story)
New Agreements with PCC
CSU-Pueblo and Pueblo Community College have entered into two agreements that will encourage increased educational opportunities for area students. The new student housing agreement will allow a limited number of PCC students to live in CSU-Pueblo student housing, while employees of both institutions will be able to use a tuition waiver. Faculty Member Earns Patent
Engineering Professor Jude DePalma recently earned a patent as co-inventor of a real-time, high frequency QRS electrocardiograph , which displays the high frequency data in real time. (full story)

$1million in Year End Gifts
More than $1 million in new gifts were received by the Foundation in the weeks leading up to the new year. Among the significant gifts were establishment of a new endowed mass communications scholarship and major additions to four existing scholarship funds. (full story)
Earthworm Research Featured
Assistant Professor of Chemistry Chad Kinney's research on the transfer of contaminants in waste products to earthworms was featured in the February-March issue of Organic Gardening magazine. His research found that biosolids used as agricultural fertilizer contain pharmaceutical and household contaminants. (full story)
Smith earns Threlkeld Prize
Tyrell SmithTyrell Smith, a senior from Pima, AZ, whose entrepreneurial spirit began with the marketing of flavored pancake mix as a fourth grader, has been named the 2008 recipient of the Threlkeld Prize for Excellence. (full story)
Loewen Gives Final Voices Lecture
Historian and University of Vermont Professor James Loewen, author of Lies My Teacher Told MeHistorian and University of Vermont Professor James Loewen will present the final lecture in the four-part Voices of America Distinguished Lecture Series at CSU-Pueblo on Monday, May 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the OUC Ballroom on campus.
2008 Kane Scholars Announced
Nine high-achieving Pueblo students have earned full tuition and book scholarships for up to five years to pursue a bachelor's degree at CSU-Pueblo thanks to the estate of the late Alexander "Andy" and Wanden Matthews Kane of Fountain.
