CSU–Pueblo hosts Festival of Winds event February 5-7

Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Department of Music will host more than 125 high school musicians and faculty representing 21 Colorado high schools as part of the first ever Festival of Winds event, February 5-7. The 2½-day event will feature a director-recommended High School Honor Band, exhibition performances by invited high school concert bands, a scholarship competition, master classes, graduate credit for participating directors, and a CSU-Pueblo faculty recital.

The festival will feature four performances, including a CSU-Pueblo Department of Music Faculty Recital at 11 a.m. on Friday, Exhibition Band Performances by Cheyenne Mt. High School with Conductor Jack Yonce, and Lewis-Palmer High School with Conductor Mike Mozingo at 8:15 p.m. A recital by the high school scholarship competition winners will begin at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday with a performance by the honor band, under the director of CSU-Pueblo Director of Bands Alan W. Mills, to conclude the event at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The public is encouraged to attend all of the concerts at no charge in Hoag Recital Hall.

Music Teachers (including Orchestral and Choral) of all education levels are encouraged to attend the Festival regardless of whether or not they have students participating in the High School Honor Band. The following schools have faculty and/or students represented at the Festival of Winds:
