CSU–Pueblo sponsors community writing marathon for adults

The Southern Colorado Writing Project at Colorado State University – Pueblo is sponsoring its sixth Pueblo Community Writing Marathon for adult writers, 21 years of age or older, from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4.

Enjoy good company as we walk, talk, and write at various Pueblo restaurants, pubs, and public places along Union Avenue and the downtown area. Treat yourself to an afternoon of non-stop writing and personal enrichment with a community of writers.

According to Southern Colorado Writing Project Director Dr. Katherine Frank, the Community Writing Marathon Program, which includes events every fall and spring, builds community by celebrating writing and encouraging literacy.

The April 4 Writing Marathon will begin at the El Pueblo-Puebla Plaza Park located on North Union and South Grand Avenues. Writers will be given a map of participating businesses and public areas, general instructions, and an initial writing prompt to help them get started. At the end of the afternoon, writers will gather together at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center to share and celebrate their work. The group read-around nurtures the sense of a community of writers.

All participants will be given the opportunity to submit their writing for publication in the Southern Colorado Writing Project’s Writing Marathon Anthology, More Voices from Union Avenue (vol. 4).

Participants must confirm a place by April 1 by contacting the Southern Colorado Writing Project at (719) 549-2595 or scwponline@gmail.com For more information about the Southern Colorado Writing Project, visit http://www.scwponline.org
