Colorado State University - Pueblo Automotive Industry Management Club hosts events

PUEBLO –Among the spring events being planned by the Automotive Booster Club of the Automotive Industry Management program at Colorado State University-Pueblo are a Tune-up Clinic this Saturday, March 12, AIM’s annual Golf Tournament on Friday, April 8 at Walking Stick Golf Course, and the Paul Sefcovic Memorial Car Show on Saturday, April 9.

The Automotive Industry Management program provides students with a broad range of management, business and technical skills applicable to the automotive parts and service industries. 

A public tune up clinic will be held from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 12 in the Automotive Lab of the Technology Building at CSU-Pueblo. Vehicle inspections ($5), Oil Changes ($19.99), and other services (parts and labor) will be offered. Parts also are provided at a discount with proceeds improving student learning in the automotive industry through purchase of new tools and equipment. AIM students will honor the memory of former faculty member Paul Sefcovic through the hosting of a Memorial Auto Show on April 9. This fund raising event, which will include a car show, car bash, and t-shirt and concession sales, is being organized by the students to raise funds for equipment upgrades, hand tools, and vehicle maintenance. The event will be located in the campus parking lot east of the Technology Building from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Paul Sefcovic died Aug. 13, 2008 and had been a passionate and enthusiastic mentor for his students since joining the AIM faculty in 1987.
All years, makes, and models are welcome at a pre-registration cost of $15 before April 1. All pre-registrants receive a complimentary t-shirt. Additional vehicles may be entered at $10 per vehicle. Registration the day of the show is $20. A variety of judging categories and prizes will be awarded, including Best truck/SUV 4X4, Best truck/SUV 2X2, Best Low rider, Best Motorcycle, Best Bicycle, Best Import, Best Domestic, and Best Rat Rod.

Vendors are welcome at $20 a booth, but no food vendors will be accepted. 

Open registration for the car show will be held from 9-10 a.m.  The car show will open to the public at no charge from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Judging of cars will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. with prizes
awarded at 1:30 p.m. Make checks payable to AIM @ CSU-Pueblo and note Car Show.

The Automotive Booster Club Jim Ward Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, April 8 at the Walking Stick Golf Course at a cost of $90 per person or $360 per team, which includes 18 holes of golf with cart, buffet lunch, prizes, and awards. Contests include closest to the pin, longest drive, longest putt, and hole in one. Mulligans will be sold for $5 each, but may not be used on contest holes.  Jim Ward was a local automotive parts supplier, who was involved in the AIM National Advisory Committee and Scholarship Awards Committee.

Tee-off begins at 9 a.m., but golfers should arrive early for check in. Sponsorship holes also are available at a cost of $100 per hole.
