CSU–Pueblo nursing students participate in annual health fair

The Nursing Department at Colorado State University – Pueblo will coordinate a host of local organizations to provide health screenings and education at the annual 9HealthFair on Saturday, April 14. The Annual 9Health Fair will be held from 7 a.m. - noon on April 14 at Praise Assembly of God, 2000 Troy Ave.

The 9Health Fair provides free medical screening services and education to those 18 years and older. Additional in-depth screening services will be available for a nominal fee. Attendees may talk with or ask questions of health professionals throughout the fair. Participants may obtain free colorectal exams, pap screenings, blood sugar testing, as well as free height, weight, Body Mass Index, vision, oral, breast, diabetes, hearing, and blood pressure/pulse screenings. In addition, other screenings will test Body In Balance, bone density, foot, and lung functions.

9Health Fair blood vouchers are available at www.9healthfair.org for $30 until April 1. The vouchers can be purchased in $5 increments and are redeemable at any 9Health Fair site through May 2007. Other screenings include a prostate specific antigen (PSA) screen for $25, colon cancer screening kits for $5, and blood count screening for $15.

The following organizations will provide interactive learning stations: AARP, Acupuncture Association of Colorado, Alcoholics Anonymous, Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter, Arthritis Foundation, Celiac Spruce Association Pikes Peak Chapter 62, Child Health Plan Plus-CHP+, Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, Colorado Academy of Family Physicians and Osteopathic Family Physicians, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Colorado Talking Book Library, Saint Mary Corwin Hospital, Drug/Alcohol Resource Team (DART), Donor Awareness Council, Eating Disorder Center of Denver, Gamblers Anonymous, Hemophilia Society of Colorado (Project Red Flag), Hepatitis C Connection, Lupus Foundation of Colorado, Parkinson Association of the Rockies, Parkview Medical Center, Sangre de Cristo Hospice and Palliative Care, Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation, Southern Colorado AIDS Project (S-CAP), Stroke Survivors-Pueblo, Upper Arkansas Home Health Services, and many more.
