The Teacher Education Association at Colorado State University-Pueblo is beginning its sixth annual school supply drive with the goal of providing basic supplies to many Pueblo families so that their children can have a successful and enjoyable start to the school year.
Last year’s drive raised more than $1,000 in school supplies for area children and the Teacher Education Association hopes to double or triple that amount this year. Community support from area businesses and individuals is the driving force behind the success of the school drive, according to event coordinator Margie Massey. This year’s effort will be bolstered by the fact that proceeds from the CSU System’s Festival on the Hill 2 event on Aug. 23 will be given to this year’s drive.
Monetary donations as well as actual school supplies will be accepted Aug. 9-18. Supplies may be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in Library Wing 317D on the CSU-Pueblo campus or be picked up by arrangement by contacting Massey at 719-549-2257. Contributions will be distributed to area children near the end of August.
