Business Students at CSU–Pueblo Sponsor Stock Market Contest

Beginning Oct. 1, the Colorado State University-Pueblo Hasan School of Business Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization and Costa Rica Property Sales are co-sponsoring the 2007-2008 $tock Market Contest. This contest offers students, faculty and staff the opportunity to trade stocks on Wall Street – risk free!

With no entry fee for CSU-Pueblo students enrolled in both Fall 07 and Spring 08 semesters, a trophy and $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the contestant with the highest account value at the close of business on April 15, 2008. The trophy and cash prize will be awarded on May 2, 2008, at a time and location to be announced.

The playing field is , a stock market simulator website where contestants will find a tutorial and simulator manual listing rules and allowable trades, trading tips for all levels of expertise, research links, and a database with necessary information on every company traded on the NYSE, Nasdaq, and AMEX. Each contestant will begin the game with a portfolio worth $100,000 with which they can buy and sell stocks based on actual up-to-the-minute market information.

Interested students and CSU-Pueblo staff may enter the contest by e-mailing First and last name, a local school address, and preferred phone number must be included in the e-mail. Upon receipt of the entry information, contest coordinator CSU-Pueblo Professor James Browne will issue an invitation to activate a trading account on the Investopedia website.
