CSU–Pueblo celebrates Veterans Day with wreath ceremony

Colorado State University-Pueblo will honor veterans and celebrate their service to this country at a 11 a.m. ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Southeast Asian (Vietnam) Memorial, north of the University Library.

Since 1919, Americans have observed Nov. 11 as a day to honor the sacrifices of those who have fought for our freedom. The public is invited to continue to honor those who have served in our armed forces.

Following presentation of the colors by Richard Romani and other members of the University’s Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program, ROTC student Jake Deacon and others who have served in the armed forces will give reflections on the day as will Dr. Mark Gose, chair of the department of history and retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. Music student Gerard Flores will perform Taps.

After the speeches, a commemorative wreath will be placed at the base of the Southeast Asian Memorial flagpole just north of the University Library by Gose and Conrad Waggener, program director of the University’s Veterans Upward Bound program. Waggener is a retired US Air Force Colonel who flew in Vietnam and Desert Storm.
