CSU–Pueblo hosts Teacher in Residence events across Southern Colorado

Discovery nights will be held April 20-22 in three Southern Colorado locations to introduce Colorado State University-Pueblo’s Southern Colorado Teacher in Residence Program (SCTiRP) to potential participants.

SCTiRP is a collaborative effort between CSU-Pueblo and school districts to prepare teachers who have not yet completed a teaching program. Successful candidates will have strong academic backgrounds and experience working with youth. The program prepares teachers through a meaningful integration of academic and clinical preparation. New teachers are supported by professional learning communities as they gain practical experience in their classrooms and learn best teaching practices through their coursework.

The Teacher-in-Residence program allows individuals to earn a salary while receiving their teaching credentials. Candidates receive quality coaching by master teachers and can apply for available grants and scholarships, all while utilizing University-based programs and resources. While in the program, teachers also will earn more than 30 hours toward a master’s degree in education.

Discovery Nights have been scheduled for anyone interested in learning more about the program. Appointments for transcript reviews and individual advising will be scheduled at a later date.
