Cora Zaletel; Executive Director of External Affairs
Cora Zaletel is Executive Director of External Affairs, where she oversees the communications, marketing, and community relations operations and serves as the University’s spokesperson. She joined the CSU-Pueblo staff in July of 2002. A native of Des Moines, Ia., Zaletel earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English from Emporia State University (KS) and has completed all but her dissertation toward a doctorate in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Kansas. She worked as a reporter and in corporate communications before beginning her career in higher education as news bureau director at her alma mater Emporia State. She spent 13 years at ESU in numerous capacities as director of university relations and later as director of advancement communications, a faculty member, and director of educational programming at the National Teachers Hall of Fame.
Zaletel is a graduate of Leadership Emporia, Leadership Pueblo, Leadership Program of the Rockies, and serves on the boards of the Higher Education Association of the Rockies, Pueblo Kiwanis Club, the Pueblo Community Health Center Foundation, District VI of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, and CSU-Pueblo’s President’s Leadership Program. She has two sons, Clint, 22, and Tyler, 17, and enjoys competitive sports such as softball, tennis, racquetball, and golf, as well as traveling, reading, writing, Scrabble, and collecting antiques. Her greatest life moment, beyond birthing her two sons, was carrying the 1996 Olympic Torch as one of 13 Community Heroes.
